A1 Level International ESOL Diploma in Speaking and Listening

City & Guilds is pleased to announce the launch of a new test, IESOL Diploma in Speaking and Listening at A1 level, to support the spouse and partner visa applications under the immigration system operated by the UK Border Agency (UKBA).

The new qualification tests speaking and listening skills, in line with the UKBA visa requirements for the spouse and partner visa applications, and has been added to the list of UKBA approved English language tests.

The examination is made up of two parts: speaking (which is the ISESOL exam at A1 level) and listening (which is the listening component of the IESOL exam at A1 level).

Given the shorter nature of the examination, the length of the test has been reduced to 20 minutes. Apart from easier administration for the centres, it also means that candidates wishing to apply via the spouse/partner visa application route do not need to be tested in areas which are not required by the UKBA.

Registrations will open in Walled Garden on 15 March 2012.
